Sophia Sobers is an interdisciplinary artist who started her career in Architecture at the New Jersey Institute of Technology but quickly found her passion in art, obtaining an MFA in Digital + Media from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2013.
Upon graduating, Sobers received an Academic Commons Program grant from RISD to conduct research on the influence of the laboratory and science in art and design at the undergraduate level. Soon after, she received a Puffin Grant to create a photographic series based on her interest in ecology and gardening which she is currently working on. Sobers recently completed her first public art project along the 195 Highway in Providence, RI, as well as her first solo show in Boston at Find & Form Space in 2014.
Sobers actively shows her work throughout Boston, Brooklyn, Providence, Newark, NJ and Washington DC . She also teaches in RISD’s Digital + Media program and has lectured at RISD, Howard University, and local art communities about her work.
