My name is Marcus and I am 31 years old. I just came to Boston from Linköping, a town located twenty kilometers south of Stockholm, in Sweden. I am really happy to have the opportunity to live in Boston for some years. I have my wife to thank for this opportunity, she is currently working here.
I studied at the university of Linköping and became a physicist year 2000. I specialised in electronics and sensors. I worked for a year at the university building sensor systems and after that I got employed by a company, developing medical systems for non invasive hemoglobin measurements on humans.
Art has always been a big part of my life and I have for the latest three years worked as a professional artist exhibiting paintings, installations and performances at gallerys, art halls and art museums in sweden. (www.marcusandre.se)
Technology is a natural part of my art and I use it in my installations and performances. I often build interactive sensor systems that for an example creates sounds, well I did until my last employer found out about me trying to borrow their oscilloscope for a very long time. Now I’m back to drawing again.
I have been a part of ALKA professional artists collective for two years now and collaborated with many artists working with different disciplines.
I have also founded an art organisation and experimental showcase allowing artists of all cultural genres to exhibit and show their new and experimental art pieces.
I hope to keep the technology part of my art alive over here. I have always been alone working with technology as a part of the art so it would be fantastic to be able to work together with other people, such as the Collision Collective. Of course, I just brought my sketch book and some pencils to US, but I often get a lot of ideas and perhaps I can be of some use.
